In over 20 years of riding competitively and just generally being around horses, Marie Arnold has experienced many things. Her love for horses began at an early age of 2 while visiting the Kentucky Horse Park with her parents. Her career in riding began at an elite Hunter Jumpers’ Farm in SE Michigan.
She transferred to an competitive English riding and jumping farm in Perrysburg, Ohio. It is here she received rigorous instruction, and competed under many local and national trainers. The competition included numerous schooling shows, HJAM and OHJA sanctioned shows. Consistently placing in the top three in classes, as well as holding divisional championships for multiple years.
While there, she was introduced and established a relationship with now internationally known Instructor and Clinician Peggy Brown. Before long Marie became an exceptionally active member and leader of the Anthony Wayne Trailblazers 4-H club in Lucas County, Ohio. Soon it was arranged for Marie to be a working-student at Walnut Hill Farm; which continued for over 8 years. There she focused on broadening her ridden discipline knowledge to Western styles, additional English styles, and found a real niche in Dressage and Driving. As a working student she trained in the principles of Centered Riding, competed in local, state, and national shows. As well as participating in multiple Centered Riding Clinics with Peggy Brown and Susan Harris as clinicians. Additionally, assisting Peggy Brown in instruction of youth at her farm and at local youth clinics.
After graduating High School, she attended the University of Findlay studying in the Western Riding & Reining program for the first year. With Dressage being her true passion she transferred into the Dressage Riding & Training Program training under the instruction of Amanda Smith and Janet Harms.
After college, Marie taught dressage and horsemanship clinics, organized and operated a variety of open shows, trained green broke horses, and coached youth riders in Northwestern Ohio. After taking a short break as stay at home mom, she jumped right back into the equestrian industry. In 2014, Marie became the Head Coach for the Notre Dame Academy Equestrian Team in Toledo, Ohio. In 2015, she settled in Central Ohio. While still coaching in Northwestern Ohio, she established White Iron Equestrian to focus on youth riders in central Ohio. At White Iron the horse and rider will enjoy the independent experience of classical riding and training instruction. Contact me to discuss your goals today!
